Block Club Chicago: Chicago BIPOC Arts Nonprofits Can Get Up To $60,000 In Funding With New Grant
IFF’s Executive Director of the Chicago Region Victoria Lakes-Battle spoke with Block Club Chicago about Chicago’s Cultural Treasures and its final phase of funding, Culture Forward Chicago. In the interview, Vickie highlighted ChiTreasures’ work so far to support the 40 current grantees, and she spotlighted the upcoming opportunity for BIPOC-led and -serving arts organizations through Culture Forward Chicago.
“There’s just a gap in the funding between white and Eurocentric art forms versus BIPOC artistry,” Vickie said. “We’re trying to model and also use this as a call to action to philanthropy in the public sector that has arts dollars available to consider funding these arts organizations more equitably. Part of this is just a recognition that BIPOC arts and cultural organization contribute to Chicagoland arts and culture vibrancy at large.”
